Eleven of the world's best Esailors will compete for an Olympic Esports Series 2023 Trophy during a live final on Friday 23 June as part of Olympic Esports Week 2023 hosted by Singapore.

Eight places in the final were decided by a series of qualifying events beginning in March. The top ranked male and female player also secured a place in the final and will be joined by a wildcard entry from Singapore. Although already concluded, the top three Esailors from the Olympic Esports Series Offshore Category will also feature, with their trophy presentation taking place live on stage.

Competition in the Olympic Esports Series 2023 took place over two categories. A 30 day Offshore endurance race around the world and an Inshore competition featuring the Nacra 17, 49er, ILCA and J70 classes. Nearly 40,000 unique players took part in the Olympic Esports Series Sailing event qualifiers, competing in over 18,000 races.

The Olympic Esport Series 2023 Sailing Finals will be streamed live on the Olympic YouTube channel.

Olympic Esports Week 2023

Sailing joins nine other sports for the live event at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. As well as Sailing (Virtual Regatta), the live final will feature Archery (Tic Tac Bow), Baseball (WBSC eBASEBALLâ„¢: POWER PROS), Chess (Chess.com), Cycling (Zwift), Dance (Just Dance), Taekwondo (Virtual Taekwondo) Tennis (Tennis Clash), Shooting (ISSF Challenge featuring Fortnite) and Motorsport (Gran Turismo).

There will also be exhibitions of five sports: Arena Games Triathlon, eFIBA basketball (NBA2K23), Street Fighter 6, Table Tennis (VR Eleven), and Rocket League.

The evolved format of the IOC's virtual competition builds on the successes of the Olympic Virtual Series. The 2021 series, which took place ahead of Tokyo 2020, attracted over 250,000 participants from across 100 countries to take part in competitions.

The Olympic Esports Series 2023 marks another step in supporting the development of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement, as laid out in Olympic Agenda 2020+5, and continues its collaboration with the gaming and esports communities to create new opportunities for players and fans alike.
