Despite the corona virus and the extreme weather conditions in Australia that have swung from a fire emergency to a flood problem, dominating the news channels, the marine industry remains optimistic in 2020. Multihulls continue to increase their penetration of the available product range.

TMG (The Multihull Group) will premiere the Lagoon Seventy 8 at the 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The Seventy 8 is the flagship of this brand, with a staggering 4000nm range, this power catamaran is perfect for stable, safe and luxurious blue water exploration. Suitable for clients considering 35M+ in a monohull due to her huge volume.

Australian founded McConaghy's are delighted to announce that work has started on an exciting new commission for the yard, a 105ft catamaran. A development of the MC90, the MC105 has an expansive flybridge atop a self-contained owner's suite on the main deck. The MC105 is a full custom project for an insightful European owner. Also, the second of three McConaghy MC60s under construction has now been completed. The owners have selected the hard-top option which has integrated LED lighting, a clear storm dodger at the front and sides to protect the helmsmen, and a shade cloth around the aft section.

Local dealer Multihull Solutions will be at the 2020 La Grande Motte Boat Show in April to take guests through a record number of boats on display from the Fountaine Pajot and NEEL Trimarans shipyards. The event, which is exclusively dedicated to multihulls, will be held from 15-19 April at the purpose-built seaside resort of La Grande Motte in the French region of Languedoc-Roussillon and attracts up to 17,000 multihull enthusiasts.

Balance Catamarans is pleased to announce the new Balance 442. Built under license by Balance Catamarans Cape Town, under the ownership of second-generation boat builder Mark Delany, the new 442 is a stunning blue water performance voyager fresh from the drawing board of esteemed catamaran designers Phillip Berman and Anton Du Toit. The new Balance 442 will be a slightly scaled down version of the Award-winning Balance 526 and 482 catamarans. While she will have less waterline length, the Balance 442 will maintain all the same characteristics that made the Balance 526 so popular and innovative, included the highly coveted Versa-Helm.

Australian company, ATL Composites, are providing the precision pieces for the latest Roger Hill-designed powercat. From concept to completion, building a custom-designed powercat is a breeze with an inspired vision, reliable team, proven materials and just a pinch of magic in the mix. The product of her owners' yachting experience and dream of long-range cruising, "Omahu", a 16-metre composite displacement hull powercat from the pen of legendary designer, Roger Hill, is taking shape at Lifestyle Yachts in Pipiroa, New Zealand.

In Australia, judges are eagerly awaiting applications for the prestigious Australian Marine Industry Awards which opened last week. The awards will be presented at the Australian Marine Industry Awards Gala Dinner taking place on the evening of Tuesday 19 May, 2020 at the InterContinental Resort, Sanctuary Cove. The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) continues to support the Australian marine export, commercial and superyacht industries with a strong focus on ensuring they are recognised for their innovation, excellence, skills and services to the industry.

The Marina Industries Association (MIA) and the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Professional and Technical Training Australia (PATTA) have signed an agreement for PATTA to deliver Certificate III in Marina Operations. It is planned that the course will be open to marina staff in July this year. The course is currently registered for delivery with government authorities in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
