Pearl Yachts Managing Director Iain Smallridge officially presented the Pearl 62, the latest addition to the Pearl Yachts fleet, today at Boot Düsseldorf. The new model is now on the water and features exterior design and naval architecture by Bill Dixon and interior design by Kelly Hoppen MBE. Unique in its category, the Pearl 62 has four spacious guest cabins, including a full beam owners cabin with seperate entrance and en-suite, in just 18,61 m LOA. Other highlights include a spacious full-length flybridge complete with wet bar and a galley that opens directly on to the aft cockpit. Volvo IPS propulsion and joystick control mean that the Pearl 62 is fuel efficient, easy to handle and fun to helm.

Smallridge commented: "We are delighted to present the latest addition to the Pearl yachts fleet, the Pearl 62, a yacht where flow and connection between indoors and out mean that the quality of the on-board living experience is excellent. Those who already know our yachts will recognize the sporty exterior lines and the luxurious and meticulously planned interiors because for this series we have again turned to our excellent team of British designers, Bill Dixon and Kelly Hoppen. Aboard the Pearl 62 owners will find all the quality and luxury that they expect from Pearl with a layout that lets them enjoy their natural surroundings in the company of their loved ones."

Measuring 18.6-metres with a beam of 5.3-metres, the new Pearl 62 has sporty lines that link her unmistakably to the other models in the Pearl fleet such as the Pearl 80 and the Pearl 95. Remarkably for a yacht that is just 61' LOA, the Pearl 62 incorporating Volvo IPS propulsion means that the Pearl 62 has a fuel efficient, smooth, low vibration ride and easy handling with top speeds of up to 32 knots and a cruising range of over 250 nautical miles.

The Pearl 62 is perfect for owners who want to enjoy quality time on the water with friends and family, with or without crew. The yacht offers four guest cabins, a unique feature in this size range, while retaining the ease of use and flexibility that a compact LOA offers. Aboard the Pearl 62 owners will find all the quality and luxury that they expect from Pearl with an intelligent layout that lets them enjoy their natural surroundings in comfort and style.

Exteriors and layout

In designing the Pearl 62 Dixon Yacht Design contemplated how they could bring some of the design features of the larger Pearl models to a smaller hull and improve on them in the process. The first step was to design an efficient, seaworthy hull that would give the Pearl 62 the performance characteristics that would make the best of her Volvo IPS propulsion system and incorporate a garage so that owners would be able to store essential equipment to enjoy their time on the water.

Indoor/outdoor connection is key to the Pearl 62 design. Guests can enjoy no less than four outdoor living areas: the extending and lowering bathing platform with easy and direct access to the sea, the aft cockpit that opens onto the main saloon, a large foredeck lounge and a fabulous flybridge that has helming, sunbathing, dining and lounging spaces along with a bar and a grill. Large glazed areas add to the spaciousness of the saloon and internal helm station where owners will find that the ease of the IPS joystick controls and dynamic positioning system that let's them enjoy helming in total safety.

Unique in its size range, the Pearl 62 offers four guest cabins. The full beam en-suite owners' cabin aft has the luxury of a private entrance. Guest accommodation also includes a full beam en-suite VIP cabin fore and two twin cabins which share a bathroom serving as day-head also. An optional crew cabin can be arranged instead of the garage.

Bill Dixon states: "When we started on the Pearl 62 we wanted to keep the strong Pearl DNA that runs through the 95 and the 80, both in terms of comfort and in terms of on board volumes. We have achieved our goal with a yacht that packs an awful lot in to just 62'. I think it's safe to say that the Pearl 62 has class leading design features right across the board and I can't help but feel proud of the work we have done here."

Interior and décor

Designing as a continuous, harmonious whole was also the approach used by interior designer Kelly Hoppen, whose unmistakable touch and sophisticated taste can be found in every meticulously crafted detail aboard the Pearl 62. The interior design is both an evolution of the Pearl range and homage to the aura of truly luxurious yachts from days gone by. Hoppen's goal was to create a home-away-from-home feeling through neutral tones and intricate detailing.

Kelly Hoppen used natural veneers and marbles offset by contrasting black accents in the walls and floors while carefully considering all materials not only for beauty but also for weight. Soft furnishings such as couches and beds feature fabrics from Hoppen's own collection designed for Richloom and include velvets, leathers and linens that give texture and depth to the decor. Quality is in every detail, from clever storage spaces to recessed rope lighting, for an incredible result that brings yacht design to the next level.

Kelly Hoppen commented: "It was a pleasure to work with Pearl Yachts on the newest addition to their fleet, the Pearl 62. As with all my designs and my ethos, everything from accessories to the finishes has been created with luxury comfort in mind. There's a real sense of calm in the yacht interiors that feature my neutral colour palette, luxurious bedding, cushions and throws".

Five-year warranty

As with all new Pearl Yachts, the Pearl 62 comes with a unique and comprehensive five-year warranty, three years longer than most other new boat warranties.

The new Pearl 62 is on display at Boot Düsseldorf, Stand A22-28, Hall 6 from 18th to 26th January 2020.
