As we approach the Christmas period it is a natural opportunity for many companies to take a break, a deep breath and to re-energize themselves for the New Year. However, the boating industry gets busy during December and the news keeps coming, so at Marine Business World we'll be bringing you the news right through the Christmas period, without missing a beat, and onwards into the New Year. As they say in the entertainment business, "the show must go on."
This week reveals a number of new boats being released including multi's, mono's, sail and power. First up the company that was founded on Sydney's Northern beaches, McConaghy's, have announced the new MC59p. Lightweight, strong and with contemporary, progressive lines, the MC59p is the power cat of the modern era. McConaghy's carefully considered use of carbon and precise hull forms makes for a particularly fuel-efficient vessel at the lower speeds, yet the MC59p is able to achieve top speeds well in excess of 20kts.
Another new multi, though a sailing version, is the Dragonfly 32 Evolution. Australian multihull specialists, TMG (The Multihull Group), has announced that the new Dragonfly 32 Evolution will make her international début at the Salon Nautique in Paris (8-16th December 2018) and then at Boot Düsseldorf 2019 (Jan 19-27, 2019).
There's also a new sailing mono, the Jeanneau Sun Fast 3300. Jeanneau confirms the launch of the new model is set for the European Spring of 2019. The innovative hull of the Sun Fast 3300 boasts a double concave, forward and aft. These curved hollows on the centre line enable an improved distribution of dynamic pressure, while limiting drag on the hull and minimizing the surface below the waterline for greater performance. The structure and shape of the keel, carefully studied on this new racing yacht, also enable a reduction in drag and an optimized centre of gravity. The result: a light, quick, reactive Sun Fast 3300.
Without marinas, the boating industry would have a major problem and it's gratifying to know that the Marina Industry Association is doing a great job on maintaining and improving marina standards. The Marina Industries Association (MIA) Executive Officer Colin Bransgrove has presented the Clean Marina Accreditation to Port Coogee Marina at a meeting of marina industry and government representatives in Perth. Port Coogee Marina is located seven kilometres south of Fremantle on the Cockburn Sound.
People appointments include Yanmar Marine International (YMI) who have appointed experienced automotive service and business development manager Martijn Oggel as its Global Sales Manager. Reporting directly to YMI Director of Sales and Marketing Floris Lettinga, Martijn will implement the company's strategic directives in alignment with local offices and key distributors, further developing Yanmar's leading market position in the global marine industry.
New products this week includes FLIR Systems (Nasdaq: FLIR) who announced this week the Raymarine Element™, a new generation of advanced, combination sonar and GPS displays. Featuring the acclaimed Raymarine RealVision™ 3D and new HyperVision™ sonar technology, the Element series delivers lifelike imaging and helps meet the demands of both coastal and bass fishermen with advanced sonar, versatile mapping capabilities, and a highly intuitive user experience.
And for trailer boat exhibitors the Boating Industry of Australia invites you to apply for space at the Rosehill Trailer Boat Show running on 6 and 7 April 2019. 2018 saw the shows return to Rosehill after a period away from the venue and just under 5,000 visitors attended across the weekend. This year will see a slight change in the venue at Rosehill, a move to the Grand Pavilion Level 1 and 2 and Betting Ring.
