Wendy and Tony Arundell were all smiles as they stepped onboard their new Aquila 44 power catamaran "Champagne Sunset" in the first week of 2018 with their growing family, setting the tone of exciting year ahead on the water.

After falling in love with the Aquila 44 at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in 2017, they placed an order on the spot and immediately set plans in motion to enter her into a bareboat charter operation with Cumberland Charter Yachts.

"We didn't actually come to the boat show to buy the Aquila," Tony said of their trip to Sanctuary Cove visit last year, "In fact we only came onboard to rule it out from our short list, but the minute we saw it, we fell in love and the rest is history".

Cumberland Charter Yachts have another Aquila 44 operating in their fleet which is amongst one of the strongest performing boats in the Whitsundays and they expect this one to be no different.

"The Aquila is a brilliant addition to our luxury fleet," said Sharon McNally, General Manager of Cumberland Charter Yachts, "It offers our customers a whole new level of luxury, space and comfort with three generous sized cabins, three ensuite bathrooms and three delightful entertaining areas, nothing is a compromise on this luxury yacht plus the stability of a cat which makes it extremely popular."

The Aquila 44 is the Arundell's third charter boat after having two sailing catamarans before it, that operated on Sydney Harbour and the Whitsundays, but they lusted after something bigger.

Operating a successful industrial/insulation business in Sydney, Tony and Wendy are very busy so the charter boat offers them a solution for enjoying some family time on the water while also keeping their eye on running the boat as another successful business.

With the boat to be located in Airlie Beach, gateway to the Whitsunday islands, the charter company provide full management and marketing services and provide a return to the boat owner. Rather than sitting around growing barnacles when the owners can't use it, the boat is generating income which not only pays for its upkeep and holding costs, but also provides a return which can help service finance on the boat or just provide surplus cash depending on if the boat is negatively or positively geared as the boat is treated as an asset of a business.

Thanks to a strong domestic tourism sector thanks to Australian's rediscovering our remarkable islands and harbours, the charter industry seems to be going from strength to strength.
