Boaters need to stay clear of Saturday swim event at Port Stephens
|
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a swim event at Shoal Bay, Port Stephens tomorrow. RMS Maritime Principal Manager North Sonia McKay said boaters should keep clear of all navigable waters at Shoal Bay from 7.30am to 11am. 'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of a swim event organized by Humphreys Events,' Ms McKay said. 'The swim course will be surrounded by a perimeter of about 100 metres and be marked by inflatable buoys. 'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by club and control vessels,' she said. Ms McKay said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
