'Dragon Dreams Dragnets'    Jude Timms
Celebrate Chinese New Year and all the grand traditions of dragon boat racing and sailing regattas at the Museum’s special family fun day, Row Row Regattas!, on Sunday 24 February 2013.

Enjoy spectacular Chinese dragon and lion dance performances and creative arts and craft activities. Compete in our very own dry-regatta race and learn about the history of regattas through family friendly tours and interactive games.

A full day of fun is planned for all the family, including:

Kids on Deck: Row Row Regattas! - Make dragon shadow puppets, paper lanterns or build a model boat. Learn about the traditions of regattas and dragon boat racing. 11am – 3pm

Regatta character tours and dry-regatta games – Join Emeritus Professor Sterling Sharpwitt for a lively family friendly tour through maritime racing history in the museum’s watermarks gallery and compete in our cardboard box dry-regatta games to win the silver cup prize. 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm

Live Performances – Be amazed by lion dance performances by Dong Tam Association. 12pm and 1pm

Dragon Boat displays - Experience the excitement of a demonstration dragon boat race and displays from the ‘Flying Dragons’ team on the museum’s water front. 2.30pm
