Superyacht Queensland has developed a fact sheet for superyachts visiting Queensland for the Commonwealth Games 4-15 April on the Gold Coast of Australia.

An influx of superyachts is expected for the games with many Australian superyacht owners taking advantage of this opportunity to cruise north to enjoy Queensland's hospitality and weather.

With a range of VIP events on offer and the excitement of the games themselves, the Gold Coast is set to be the place to be.

The fact sheet has been developed as a guide to visiting superyachts. It provides information on the games themselves, regulations regarding entering Australia, customs clearing ports, berthing availability, refit and repair facilities in the region, information regarding access to the Great Barrier Reef and cruising itineraries to make the most of being in this part of the world. Contact details are included for the key superyacht agents in the region who are able to assist with any queries, visas, provisioning etc. that vessels may require.

Cameron Bray Chair of Superyacht Queensland commented, "This is the biggest tourism event for Queensland this decade and we are already seeing the detailed preparation and excitement building on the Gold Coast. With 12 action-packed days of sports, entertainment and free culture to celebrate the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. There are also events in Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville and we are seeing visiting superyachts planning to travel up the north east Queensland Coast. It is fantastic that the government has designated the Gold Coast as a port of entry to facilitate vessels coming in for this event."

With only 47 days to go planning is well underway, enquiries have been rolling in and of course with the Gold Coast City Council also organizing a marine week culminating with a VIP function on Friday 13th April, this is a great opportunity for all in the marine sector.

To cap off the games for the superyacht industry the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous is being held at the Gold Coast City Marina from 20- 21 April, where already 20 Superyachts are booked in to showcase their style and capability demonstrating the growing appeal of chartering superyachts in Australia.
