I just been looking for some results of an open event that some friends attended this weekend.
2 handed boats.

Found them, published using sailwave......the Crew didn't get a mention. Angry

This practice used to be more widespread and fortunately doesn't happen very often these days, most result gurus now understand that the crew is one half of a team and presumeably pays half the entry fee. I can think of no reason or excuse.......

If anyone has published results this weekend without mentioning the crew, please put it right and ask the person responsible to write 100 times "the crew is important and deserves a mention".

It's a shame. On our boat and many other classes the crew is doing more work than the helm

......it only requires an extra bit of typing.

perhaps a crew union? Smile

This is a particularly nasty trait imv. Not only does the crew contribute, but he/she makes or breaks a team. It's a terrible habit 'they' have, very often the helm would be useless and get nowhere in the prizes without a skilled crew and the difference between a good crew and bad is way greater than the difference between stick wigglers in some boats..

It should always be a double barrel entry, imagine rowing pairs with only one mentioned.

Who did this? Name and Shame!

Not sure who's responsible, either the CA or the club who hosted......so I won't name for a while. I'll e-mail both with a polite request to rectify.

...my crew is also better looking than me.

Have you tried doing sailwave results regularly? Just reading the helm's name from a scribbled sign on sheet is a nightmare and they often don't bother to put their crew's name at all.

The results are usually done from the sign on and race times sheets, especially in club racing so if you want your crew credited, sign on legibly and make sure their names are down also.

For open meetings, fill in the forms clearly, preferably in capitals and with full names not just nicknames.
It's your fault  if you get put down as Mr X or Squiggle!

Also the crew name column may not publish by default, it has to be marked as publish and many sailwave users wouldn't have a clue how to go about that.

Well Patj that may well be the case but the I14 Worlds did not name the crews in their results. And that was an event run by professionals at our Olympic venue. I guess most entries for that event will have been made online prior to the event. So no excuses there.

I do sailwave results for our club, and yes the sign on sheets can get messy. I generally ask who's in what boat if I'm not sure. In rare cases where it impossible to work out who the crew is I put the crews in for every one else and put a ? in the missing space.

My Wife crews for me, she would rightly be pi$$ed off if I omitted her name.

The Bloody Mary results used to be published without crew names, that is, until I made a fuss about it and sent them a polite but concise e-mail......Now they realise it's what paying competitors want they're more than happy to do the extra typing.

In Andy Hemmings book "Crewing to Win" he dedicates a paragraph or two to the subject of crew acknowledgement and how to make sure you get it......absolutely agree with him.
