True but the options are either to change the boat which I do not want to do or to change the water but there are few alternitaves.

What I can do is to choose to treat the handicap racing on cources that I do not like as practice for the class racing which I get to do every so often. I also get to practice in a boat that is great fun and a challenge just to sail.

I'm guilty too - sailing a Laser4000 on a reservior of 256 acres.  I used to have great battles when I sailed a Laser with half a dozen others but it was doing my knees in.  I needed a boat more befiting my advancing years and so chose something bigger and wow is it fun and after racing we often blast up and down the lake.  I notice the Lasers never go for a blast after racing.
