Anyone been following the row between Primark and Cornwall Surfers?
Cornwall Surfers have accused Primark of selling throw away wet suits, causing damage to the environment etc, Primark have countered with accusations of snobbery.

Primark = chinese sweat shop cheapness.  Reviews say they don't fit well so don't keep you warm either - being a snob I shall be sticking with Zhik.

It's Vimes' Boots theory yet again:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory

Though I'm guessing a fair few purchasers are just tight wads thinking they found a bargain .. and don't care about the sweat shops ... though come to think of it, I believe my fany Zhik skiff suit is also chinese.

I bought a shortie from Asda few years back, the neoprene fell apart after a few hours use.
On the other hand, or foot, I don't care how good or not good Zhik stuff is, I'm not paying their inflated prices.
Anyway I would imagine most surfwear is manufactured in China

It all comes down to the quality of the neoprene, something I only really appreciated when I started windsurfing and paddle surfing.

Up until reasonably recently, most dinghy brand wetsuits were constructed of very cheap neoprene usually reserved for mouse mats, beer coolers and pencil cases for pre-teen boys.

Zhik changed that game, and if you want an alternative, one that supports someone who has been part of the bedrock of the UK dinghy community, then Lennon Sails offer very good quality Yamamoto neoprene suits, customised for the brutality of sitting-down sailing.

Price and style looks good, was expecting mega money, lot cheaper than my last Ripcurl.

Yamamoto neoprene suits,.......

That's my Zhik loyalty quashed!!  If the zhik ever wears out I'm having one of each!  Good recommendation.

Had a Neil Pryde wetty before; it was comfy but very delicate.  The neoprene just came apart.  The Neil Pryde 3d curve drysuit has been going for 10 years however; sadly they don't make them any more and it's now, finally, becoming a damp suit.

I had Pryde wetsuits when windsurfing and found similar - very warm but the welded seams just didn't last like other suits.

My favourite was Isurus - cost a bomb to import but we holidayed in the US a lot back then, so I'd often arrange delivery to a hotel/apartment.

O'Neill serves me well these days - they've got stretchy material which is similar to Yamamoto enough for what I need in hot weather conditions.

I have gone through my Surf and Sailing stuff, got a embarrassing amount of stuff, lot of Gul stuff, from before they went bust, Ripcurl, found quite a few Decathlon items. Got to be a fair few impulse buys, two spray tops in perfect condition, one Musto and a Decathlon. Three buoyancy aids, kayak, sailing and impact, madness.

Cheap wetsuits are made of poor materieal generally.
I needed a wetsuit quickly the other year so tried on a £40 suit at a high street leisure store. One size was baggy, the next size down, I couldn't get into.
So I bought another O'Neill, which is much more stretchy, allows for a layer or two inside it in the cold season.
