What happened to Ally Pally in March?
Seems all wrong to me.

Massive thread a while back. Dinghy sailing is strong in the North and Midlands with the South more, but not exclusively Yachting. Allí Pally is easy day drip on the train form the North Farnborough miles away and a nightmare. RYA have signed a squilion  year deal. Unless a class is active south of Watford eventually they just won’t bother coming.

Though from the north moved about 1/2 an hour away so if nothing else going will go

Is it not the Farnborough at the bottom of the M40?

Hampshire. Just happens to have a Guildford postcode, like many of us in this part of the world. I don’t know whether the majority of visitors drive to the show or take public transport, but getting to Ally Pally by car is a PITA from the A3 corridor. Selfishly, Farnborough will be much easier for me. Hence, I will go this year whilst I’ve not been to Ally Pally for some years.

Hope to go. Suspect Farnborough was cheaper than others - can't imagine dinghy sailors paying NEC prices. But yes, a silly place for northerners, especially the NE. Though where the idea came from that we all sail yachts down here and all sail dinghies up north I'm not sure. Dinghies go with cloth caps and ferrets?

Couldn't find the previously mentioned thread on the subject.
I liked Ally Pally as a venue but obviously Londoncentric.
However Farnborough viewed from afar is just a London suburb.

I totally understand the reasons for moving the show but it will mean we won’t go very often.
Mrs Grumpycat and I have been regular visitors to the Dinghy show for the last few years on the Saturday because it makes a great day out.
We live in Coventry , so it straight onto the m1 and it’s a easy drive to ally pally . Get there early, look round the show in morning , then have a gentile stroll up the hill to the shops to have some lunch. Then a nice relaxed drive home.
Farnborough doesn’t really have the same pull for a day out lol. Plus you have to play with the m25 . Think we will give it a miss this year but I still really hope the show is a success .

This is news to me? The Dinghy show has moved to Farnborough? Are they totally mental? I know the b**tards at Ally Pally were difficult to deal with, but they had a good slot (thanks to me) and only one build day.
But Farborough? Really? where is that on the planet nowhere?
