Hi, We have "diesel smell" trouble of the cabin now. We found the leak of the diesel from the fuel filter and fixed it. But the diesel smell is felt everywhere inside the cabin. How can we say bye from that problem? Please advise. Edited by cathyd - 10 Oct 21 at 8:37pm |

Problem with diesel is that it isn't a spirit, so it won't easily evaporate, you are going to have to physically clean it up, using a detergent to hold it in suspension.

Thank you very much for your advice Robert. We understood that it’s difficult. We’ll try to do that. We are happy if there is a nice chemical to deodorize that smell. (dream…)

Can you seal the engine from the living area, better door seals? Vent it to the outside, doesn't seem ideal to be able to smell the engine from the living quarters, if you get a faulty exhaust it could allow carbon monoxide in.

Thank you Robert, The exhaust is no problem. Only leak diesel fuel in the bilge from the fuel pipe was your issue. Already it was resolved. We'll try to clean the smell up.

Pour a couple of gallons of cheap washing up liquid in and water, should emulsify the diesel then pump it out and dispose of the gunk.
