I have the usual two sizes of pins/fittings in the bits box (3/16" and 5mm) they are not really interchangeable (ok, 3/16" pins are 4.8mm dia. so usable in place of a 5mm if you're stuck). But I've just re-drilled a couple of old, imperial, HA vernier shroud adjusters so I can use 5mm pins, same as the rest of the boat, which has worked fine. But, I have a couple of 5mm quick pins that I thought I'd use on the lowers and they won't fit. So are 5mm pins exactly 5mm the holes drilled slightly larger 'clearance' size or are the holes 5mm and the pins slightly undersized? I'd have thought the former but my 5mm clevis pins fit fine through a 5mm hole it's just the fast pins that don't....

drill them out to 5.2mm, sometimes the hole causes the pin to oval slightly.

You own a 5.2mm drill bit?

That's more or less what I've done, by wiggling the 5mm drill around a bit LOL. The issue is probably down to tolerances rather than design.

5.2mm, think it's a pop rivet size, 4.8mm too, not sure though.

4.8mm is the metric conversion for 3/16", 5.2mm is the tapping size for an M6x1mm thread.

There are always reasons for certain sizes, nothing random.

I built a barbecue kitchen and bar, plus fitted a cctv system to house and gardens with a DVR, oh and a hutch for the motorbike.
