cloudy compass display

   I am trying to see if there is anything I can do to this compass to bring back the display or should I just replace the compass? Here is a picture of the issue

	You can use the same kits for cloudy headlight lenses, however sometimes the plastic is permanently brown.

	Hi this will sound weird, but try toothpaste. It will take a long time, but you should end up with being able to read the compass scale. There are kits available to do this that essentially start with a coarse grade (relatively) paste or paper and then works through the grades until it is a polished finish. Again it takes time. hope that helps

	Thanks for he advice. will start with toothpaste and look at the headlight kits. Seems a shame to replace without at least trying to bring it back to life

	Whilst toothpaste, or some toothpastes at least, are a mild abrasive, I'm not sure it would be my first choice in trying to salvage an expensive piece of kit.

	Just oxidisation you can go 1200 wet and dry then 1500 then polish up 2000 grade and a fareclea g3 paste works great om headlights

	Umm so you would put toothpaste on your teeth but not "expensive kit"? I have used this technique on aircraft canopies/lights/dials etc. Also great way to rejuvenate the flexible screen in convertible rear windows.

	Looks like a few options but all will take time. if use the paper route and work it finer how should i cope with the angular surface. Just use paper or have a foam block?
