Jan Willem Staman, Dr. Michelle Barbieri & Lindsey Bull measure and identify an immature turtle, OA45, away from & behind an adult female to avoid flushing her back into ocean. During their work, a more robust adult female hauled herself out of the water.

Dr. Alexander Gaos and Marylou Staman watch as Dr. Camryn Allen performs an ultrasound on an adult female green sea turtle on North Shore of O‘ahu. If they found follicles filled with yolk, they would attach a satellite tag that could give valuable info.

The identifier `OA48` was etched into the turtle's shell, and non-toxic paint was applied. The paint will wear off of the outer shell and remain in the etched markings for easy identification later in the season.

Aerial images of adult female Southern Resident killer whale “J17,` displaying very poor body condition on May 6th 2019. Note the white eye patches that trace outline of skull due to a reduction in fat around head. Her condition is contrasted to Sep 2018.
