Powerboat P1 Management Ltd, the rights holders of the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship, has today announced plans for round three of its 2010 series to take place in Galway, on Ireland’s west coast.

Running in conjunction with the Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race 2010, which is being organised by Let’s Do It Galway and the Irish Offshore Powerboat Club, the Powerboat P1 Galway Grand Prix of the Sea will take place on 5-7 June 2010.

Following the series breaking new ground by racing in Croatia in April, the SuperStock Championship teams will make their first appearance in Ireland for four years, having previously under the guise of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Association in Bangor in 2006.

Powerboat P1 Chief Operating Officer Robert Wicks is thrilled to be taking the SuperStock series back to the Emerald Isle. He said: 'Powerboat P1 is delighted to be part of this Irish maritime festival and entering into a new market.

'Ireland has a strong following and a long tradition of powerboat racing and we are sure that Powerboat P1 will complement the fantastic week of competition and vibrant entertainment Galway is famous for.'

Let’s Do It Galway is expecting 250,000 people to attend a week long nautical festival which will be built around the inaugural Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race.

Mr Justin McInerney of the Irish Offshore Powerboat Club said that: 'We are delighted to welcome the Powerboat P1 Superstock Championship to Galway and Ireland as a highlight of the Around Ireland Race and Festival. Galway Bay is a unique location and offers the prospect of thrilling viewing practically in the heart of the city'.

Considered to be the world’s most accessible marine motorsport, the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship will see 20 passionate teams pitting their wits against Galway’s testing Atlantic Ocean waves for the three-day Grand Prix of the Sea.
