Three-time Powerboat P1 SuperSport Class World Champion, Angelo Tedeschi, has received his country’s highest sporting accolade, after the Italian won the 'Medaglia d’Oro al Valore Atletico' of CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee).

Joining celebrated company, such as MotoGP legend, Valentino Rossi, and Italian FIFA World Cup winning goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, Tedeschi's latest prize is one given to athletes that excel in their global arena and bring international prestige to Italian sport.

'Becoming the first pilot to win three world titles in the Powerboat P1 World Championship was an amazing feeling, but to be recognised by CONI for bringing pride to Italian sport tops it all. I will remain in the history books of Italian sport forever and I am very honoured.

'To be in the company of great champions such as Valentino and other legends of motorsport is a great reward for all the personal sacrifices that I have made to better myself, the team and my boat.'

Like most champions, Tedeschi is still not satisfied despite his sizeable trophy cabinet, insisting there is plenty more room for a 2010 SuperSport Class award.

With the Croatian Grand Prix of the Sea only 83 days away, 'team Tedeschi' is taking shape with the boss having order the new engines and expecting to make an announcement on his co-pilot by the end of February.
