EPIRB saves my friends' lives after their boat capsizes Offshore Office
On June 28, 2016, four friends went on an offshore fishing trip out of Charleston, SC. They just bought a used 2006 Sea Pro and this was their first trip offshore with it.

The hull apparently started coming apart slowly throughout the day. At the end of the day, on their way home, the hull split apart and the boat started taking on water. The boat capsized within minutes and flipped over. As they went under the boat for the life jackets they grabbed two epirbs, a ditch bag, a fishing rod and a GoPro. They mounted the GoPro to the fishing rod and started filming.

Both epirbs were activated, however, one of them fell in the water and got away. Luckily, they held onto the last epirb and the Coast Guard was on scene 40 minutes later. A Good Samaritan Boat then came and took everyone aboard. Finally, they were transferred to a USCG Cutter and returned to Charleston. If they would not of had an ePirb this could have ended up very differently.

What I was referring to was the autopilot, and the reason for that lies in the very sentence immediately preceding this one. Enjoyment.
