It's still early spring but it's not too soon to think about the dog days of summer, particularly the days that involve real, panting, four-legged dogs.

If you do cruise with your dog, chances are good that you take a lot of pictures so you can enjoy those days all year long. Here are some terrific pictures of a great variety of dogs - all seeming to be having a great time on board.

On my first trips to Maine, I’d hang a left at Cape Elizabeth and head into Casco Bay, tying up at DiMillo’s in downtown Finally, I realized what a lot of people already knew. Casco Bay is a great cruising destination in itself, dotted with islands, beaches, old forts, and inns with big porches and bigger views, and still open to the possibility of a dinner ashore in Portland or breakfast at Becky’s Diner. But I know I’ve still barely scratched the surface.

Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water after an overturned kayak was spotted off Duxbury Pier Light The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water Monday after an overturned kayak was spotted off Duxbury Pier Light (Bug Light), in Plymouth Harbor, Massachusetts. A local fisherman spotted an overturned, unmarked 10-foot lime green kayak with a paddle at about 4 a.m. and reported it to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston.

We already have three named storms, an unusually high number since it’s not even the end of June yet. For named storms affecting the east coast of the U.S., the predictions range from a low of 10 to a high of 17. For hurricanes, the range is from six to 10; for major hurricanes, the range is from one to four.

Coast Guard locates missing kayaker safe in Maine
The officer confirmed Cerezo was the kayaker search crews were looking for. The Coast Guard confirmed Thursday the kayaker missing off the coast of Maine was found safe. According to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England, a Maine Fisheries and Wildlife officer heard the audio clip of the mayday call on the news and recognized the kayaker's voice.
