Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, innovative new design, Ron Holland and more

Hello to you all out there (aliens and other space creatures, too, if you’re on line) and unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you’ll be well aware where to find the Powerboat-World team (and the mob from Sail-World and Marine Business-World) over the nest few days.

If you’re at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, you’re right on the money; you’ll see our marquee (you will not be able to miss it!) so come aboard and say g’day.

Sadly, I just learned this morning that the Presidential Suite in the Hyatt Regency has not been put aside in my name as my personal HQ.

Bugger!!!!!!!!

Plenty of news happening and as usual we deliver it from all parts of the world straight to you, our beloved readers.

We recently enjoyed the company of the rather distinguished Ron Holland, the acknowledged master of superyacht design; Ron is in town for the boat show and we caught up with him when Commodore Rob Mundle played host last week at the Southport Yacht Club for the annual Marine Industry Luncheon.

Ron certainly had those in attendance on side when he lavished praise on the Queensland Gold Coast as a future superyacht destination.

While you’re browsing our interest-packed site, take you hat off to Trevor Payne, a man who definitely thinks outside the square.

Trevor is the man behind the innovative (and I really do mean innovative) Sea Ski.

Some good news for the boating industry in New Zealand with all reports that sales are 'booming' following the recent Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show.

Sure hope that remains on an even keel for some time to come.

Now, believe me (how could you not?), there’s plenty more here to delve through, but I have to sign off – I have a bunch of Boat Show end of day functions to attend!

Don’t miss the Show, as those young men are wont to say when selling steak knives on TV, just be there, we’ll appreciate your company (especially if it’s your shout when the beers come around).
