UAE Jet Ski Championship, held at the Umm Suqeim Beach in Dubai, sixth and final heat took place on Saturday April 21st 2012. Al Mur Mohammed Bin Huraiz did just enough to clinch a keenly-contested overall crown in the Expert Ski Limited class.
Bin Huraiz, who has travelled around the world competing at international-level motos thus gaining valuable experience, did enough to get the points needed and clinch the overall title with 305 points to his credit.
The young UAE pilot even missed out on a podium finish, but the 48 points he earned through his fourth position were enough to hand him the points needed to walk away with the overall honours in the season-ending heat.
Chasing Bin Huraiz down the home stretch was Omar Abdullah, who ultimately had to settle in second with 299 points – just six points separating the top two, while Japan’s Toshi Ohara came in third with 279 points.
It was Mansoor Al Qubaisi all the way as he took a second position in the final race here to be crowned the new champion in the Ski Junior class with 310 points to his credit. Lahij Khalid Saif Al Ma’asam was second, a mere 12 points behind, while Jaber Mohammed Saif Al Ma’asam, who went on to win the final heat, claimed the third spot with 293 points.
The Novice Runabout class witnessed a clean sweep from riders from Qatar with Abdullah Ghulam Ali securing a third in the heat to take his tally to 248 points and along with it the overall title ahead of heat winner Rashid Al Manai’e (226 points) and Mohammed Abdullah Al Haidous (202 points).
With most of the classes going up to the wire, there was very little doubt on the early promise shown by Khamis Subait Al Hosni as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in Expert Runabout Stock class with 331 points. Abdullah Ghulam Ali with 182 points was placed second and Rashid Al Mana’ie with 149 points, came in third.
The Pro Ski GP class was settled in favour of French rider Steven Duliach (334 points) after he finished ahead of countryman Caumont Lodovic (309), and Chris Wilkinson (273) from the UK followed up in third.
James Bouchel from the UK was uncatchable in the Pro Runabout class as the Englishman was crowned the new champion with 313 points against his name ahead Japan’s Toshi Ohara (248) and the UAE’s champion Nader Bin Hindi (229).
Ahmed Mohammed Bin Thani, Chairman of the board of directors at the Dubai International Marine Club gave away the trophies in the presence of board members Ali Bin Ghulaitha, Mohammed Hareb, Huraiz Bin Huraiz, Race Director Nasser Al Dhaheri and Championships Officer Sid Bensalah.
