A busy program of marine activities and aerial displays is scheduled for Thursday 26 January 2012 on Sydney Harbour.

Some highlights are:
11am–2pm: Best Dressed Vessel Competition. Best Dressed Vessel judges will be out and about on Sydney Harbour from 11am to 2pm. Cash prizes of $500 will be awarded to the winners of five categories. Before the day, visit www.australiaday.com.au for your chance to win one of 20 decorations packs for your vessel.

11am: CYCA Short Ocean Race. This annual race from Sydney Harbour to Botany Bay returns to finish at Rushcutters Bay.

11am: Ferrython. The Ferrython will once again let loose those four green and yellow catamarans to race up and down Sydney Harbour. Note: there will be a 50 metre exclusion zone around each competing ferry.

12.15pm & 12.45pm: RAN Search and Rescue Display. See the Royal Australian Navy’s Dive Team perform a series of search and rescue displays from a helicopter in Farm Cove at 12.15pm and Athol Bay at 12.45pm.

1.15pm: 176th Australia Day Regatta. The world’s oldest continuously-conducted annual sailing regatta, will take place throughout the afternoon, with events for all classes of yachts and 18-foot skiffs.

1.30pm: Seahawk Aerial Handling Display.

2pm: F/A-18 Hornet Flyover.

2.30pm: Red Berets Splash into Farm Cove. The Red Berets from the Army Parachute Training School fly over Sydney Cove and splash into Farm Cove as they perform a parachute display.

3pm: Tall Ships Race. Starting at Bradley’s Head, the Tall Ships will lead the spectacular fleet of historic and charter vessels as they make their way to finish under the Bridge. Note: there will be a 50 metre exclusion zone around each Tall Ship.

3pm–9pm: Sydney Ports Jazz on the Water Concert. Boaties are invited to drop anchor in Johnstons Bay from 2.00pm for a prime viewing spot.

8.40pm: Darling Harbour Australia Day Spectacular. The Darling Harbour Australia Day Spectacular will culminate in a fireworks extravaganza over Cockle Bay.
