The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, 27-31 October 2011, certainly had an upbeat feel for the first two days with the Australian stand kept busy all day with quality leads and considerable interest from visitors in cruising Australian waters and purchasing Australian product.

Australia’s leading internationally focused marine industry organisations, Australian Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia joined forces again this year to lead a contingent of Australian companies to this show.

Superyacht Australia showcased the Australian Superyacht industry. Superyacht Australia CEO MaryAnne Edwards said 'having presence at these shows reinforces Australian waters as an ideal cruising destination for the world’s superyachts plus promotes the quality of Australian workmanship for superyacht refit and repair work to these global customers.'

VEEM Propellers American Distributor, Joel Kmetz said 'we have already sold from enquiries directly at the show and have numerous leads to follow up.'

Fred Mayer Muir’s American Distributor commented that he also had considerable interest on the first 2 days of the show and the quality of the visitors to the show was excellent.

Heavy rain and winds meant the last 3 days of the show were much quieter and there was flooding in most marquees causing a number of exhibitors to lose marketing materials ruined by overbite flooding.

'The weather was unfortunate as the show on Thursday and Friday was certainly better than last year' said AIMEX and Superyacht Australia CEO MaryAnne Edwards.

The Australia-based company Aqualuma Marine Lighting, a leading manufacturer of ultra-bright, long-lasting and low power-drawing marine lights was once again a major sponsor of this show.

Australian companies who attended the show were Aqualuma Marine Lighting, Hydrive Engineering, Coursemaster Autopilots, VEEM Propellers, Muir, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Azzura Marine, Riviera and Marine Tuft.
