After the UIM Class 1 Powerboat World Championship Italian Grand Prix a series of post-race time penalties and a time credit following yesterday’s second race results in Spirit of Qatar 96 elevating to third place at the expense of their teammates.

The Spirit of Qatar 95 pairing were handed a one minute penalty for being underweight at post-race scrutineering and an additional 25-second penalty for hitting and destroying a turn buoy, dropping Ali Al Neama and Matteo Nicolini down to fourth place and elevating Sheikh Hassan and Steve Curtis - who were credited 22.37 seconds for wrongly being penalised a penalty long lap - to third.

The revised result also sees a reshuffle in the overall standings in the European Championship with Spirit Qatar 96 bumped up to second place, their teammates down to third. Norwegian outfit Welmax was also handed a one minute penalty for being underweight but remain in sixth place.
