Hunter River: Navigation restriction for power boat races

A section of the Hunter River will be restricted for parts of this weekend in order for power boat races to take place safely.

NSW Maritime Regional Manager Hunter/ Inland Sonia McKay said boat skippers would need to avoid the area on the Hunter River at Raymond Terrace, downstream of the Fitzgerald Bridge between Bourke and Swan Streets, between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and 9am and 5pm on Sunday.

'NSW Maritime has granted the power boat race organisers exclusive use of this section of the river to ensure the event runs smoothly and is carried out safely,' Ms McKay said.

'The exclusive use area will be patrolled by control vessels who will direct recreational skippers around the event area.'

'Skippers in the area should keep a proper lookout, adhere to speed limits and comply with safety rules and directions.'
