NSW Department of Primary Industries will be holding three community information sessions along the South Coast to answer questions relating to the current review of grey nurse shark protection in NSW.
by Alyssa Fitzgerald
NSW DPI, Manager Fisheries Ecosystems, Sarah Fairfull, said NSW DPI officers will be on hand at the sessions to provide copies of the discussion paper and answer any questions. 'The discussion paper has been prepared to form the basis for community consultation on the future of grey nurse shark protection arrangements in NSW,' Ms Fairfull said.
'The paper reviews the conservation history and status of grey nurse sharks and sets out some of the current issues related to their protection and conservation in NSW. 'These community information sessions are an opportunity for members of the community to come along and ask questions about the discussion paper. 'A range of advisory material will be available at the information sessions including copies of the discussion paper, submission forms and background papers.
'NSW DPI officers will listen and take on board community views on improving protection for grey nurse sharks as part of the review process.' The community information session will be held at the following locations:
Narooma – Tuesday 26 July at the Narooma Golf Club, 1 Ballingalla Street from 3.30pm to 7.30pm
Batemans Bay – Wednesday 27 July at the Batemans Bay Community Centre, Meeting Room 2, 2 Museum Place from 2.30pm to 6.30pm
Oak Flats – Thursday 28 July at the Oak Flats Neighbourhood Centre, 44 Fisher Street from 4.00pm to 7.30pm.
