Sail-World.com : Chris-Craft planning a Launch with a difference

Chris-Craft planning a Launch with a difference

'The new Launch 20 is a modern-day collector’s item that is sure to turn heads'    Premier Marine

Though it may not boast the full timber construction of its gorgeous forebears, the new Chris-Craft Launch 20 somehow manages to appear equally iconic and organic. It’s as though Mother Nature herself carved the curvaceous lines to evoke the elegance and romance of a bygone era.

At the same time, this sleek bowrider has all the modern-day functionality you could wish for, as Chris-Craft has invested it with the performance, plushness and sophistication found in its larger models.

You’d be stretched to find a boat more perfect for waterskiing, wakeboarding and spending quality time with your grown-up mates.

The luxurious cockpit is too cool for kids - save it for entertaining your mates -  Premier Marine

After an 85 kmh dash across the bay, with the 5.0-litre MerCruiser purring beneath the rear sunpad, the bow is an ideal place to unwind. A curved windscreen with a centre walk-through gives easy access to the main cockpit.
Laid out on a perforated dash are custom Chris-Craft gauges and a mahogany-trimmed wheel, to which owners are likely to apply Araldite. There’s precious little room for electronics, but who needs ’em?

There’s a ski locker between the seats that would also be handy for fenders and docklines, and the integral swim platform incorporates a three-step swim ladder. It’s worth noting that the sterndrive leg appears to protrude beyond the end of the platform so caution should be exercised when swimming.

Of course there’s no harm is just sitting here at sunset sipping a champagne.

Rest assured that this 20-footer will be dearer than the norm, but it's guaranteed to get you noticed. They’re practically collector’s items once they leave the showroom floor because so few are built each year.

Meanwhile, if you’re wondering what’s faster than a Silver Bullet, and more powerful, the answer is Chris-Craft’s Corsair 28.

From listening to customer feedback the US builder has decided to offer the custom silver paint that was previously only available on the limited-edition, 20-foot Silver Bullet.

The silver finish does wonders for the larger Corsair -  Premier Marine

The bigger Corsair not only looks sensational but sports a comfortable cuddy cabin for an afternoon nap or time out of the sun. You can also take a wee break, as a toilet compartment is included.

There’s a new option for a cockpit galley, and the large bimini folds back to hide under the aft seating.

The Corsair comes with a standard 8.1-litre engine with 375hp, however you can specify a range of Volvo or MerCruiser engines up to twin 300hp.

Both models will be displayed by importer Premier Marine at Sydney International Boat Show later this month.
To mark the occasion, NIDA theatrical photographer Robert Kelly will be conducting photo shoots aboard and there’ll be glamorous fashion sessions with Lisa Kelly bikini and kaftans on the Saturday morning and afternoon.
