Gold Coast City Council voted today to give the Marine Action Group the opportunity to liaise with Hutchinson Builders to provide quotes to refurbish the iconic Tipplers Tavern.

Council will vote in a week's time to either refurbish or demolish the 39 year old Tipplers Tavern - a Gold Coast landmark and long-time favourite of the boating and camping communities.

Spokesman Keith Douglas said 'This is a welcome breakthrough and we are hoping that this paves the way to save a building that has cultural and heritage significance for the boating community'.

The efforts of Councillors Peter Young and Eddy Sarroff have provided this opportunity and we hope this will lead to a 'win win' for council and boaties with a new lease of life for the Tipplers Tavern so that future generations can enjoy the unique Tipplers experience.
