Boaters are advised that a safety exclusion zone will apply to a section of the Hastings River for an Ironman swimming event this Sunday.
NSW Maritime Chief Executive Steve Dunn said the swim leg of the Australian Ironman Triathlon will take place in Back Creek, Hastings River, between Town Wharf and Settlement Point.
'For the safety of swimmers, boaters will be required to keep clear of the area between 6am and 10am,' Mr Dunn said.
'The boundaries of the exclusion zone will be patrolled by control vessels who will advise skippers in the area that entry into the swimming zone is restricted.'
More than 1000 competitors from around the world are registered to participate in the event. The swim leg covers 3.8km of the Hastings River. Website
