DIY Superyachts

'Technologies developed within the Aerospace and Defence Industries have been tailored to meet the needs of the Superyacht Industry.'    MIAA
Urban Voyage has launched its ‘Visual Solutions Services’ to the Superyacht Industry, drawing on technologies developed within the Aerospace and Defence Industries, enabling clients to have input in projects from the start.

Utilizing powerful technology, Urban Voyage is able to bring significant advantages to Superyacht Owners, Builders and Designers with smart and cost effective use of design information.

The technology assists Superyacht projects by reusing valuable design information and making it available to stakeholders securely online and across the build process. This is achieved by making complex design data accessible and usable so it can be applied in the development, manufacture, sales and marketing, supply and service as well as cost effective training.

Urban Voyage Special Projects Manager, Marc Robinson says “Imagine the confidence our service brings to Superyacht Owners by allowing them to know exactly what they are investing in from the start, enabling them to understand, communicate and have greater input with their dream project.

'This can be done from the comfort of their own home without complex or expensive equipment. If you have a computer with Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office and Adobe Reader, you already have the tools you need. You don’t require technical abilities to understand the technology or the design information and it's as easy to use as ‘point and click’.”

Significant benefits are being realised by shipyards and designers. By leveraging the existing CAD information direct from the design department, a design, as well a designs intent can be understood and applied to the supply chain, manufacturing process, service, support and by the end user.

“Understanding that design information is a significant investment and resource, astute owners and builders are now able to maximise the return on this investment by utilizing this valuable information for benefits outside of the design department” says Richard Elliott, Managing Director, Urban Voyage.

By adapting the leading edge technology to be used as a cost effective service for Superyacht and Megayacht manufacture, Urban Voyage hopes to achieve a greater capability for owners to understand and influence a build, allow builders to achieve or exceed targets and improve the process for all stakeholders, down to the individual crew members to easily understand a vessel and it complexities.

Richard states “Our service is scalable and can be customised for our clients individual needs. Studies have shown that use of this technology has enabled 'best in class' companies to increase revenue, reduce change orders, create faster delivery of design to manufacture information and the ability to hit launch dates on time. Who doesn't want this in a build?'
