Creating your very own vessel from scratch is now possible through Simpson Marine’s custom build division based in Taiwan, with recent regional deliveries that include a 76ft tailor-made unit commissioned by the boutique hotel Twin Palms in Phuket – aptly named Twin Palms One. With a history of over 25 years experience in the Asian markets and a number of regional network offices, Simpson Marine’s new construction team, headquartered in Taipei, has the experience and awareness of regional business cultures to advise customers where to build, which designers to choose and how to achieve outstanding results. According to Grant Saunders, Simpson Marine’s Thailand Country Manager, the ability to offer such knowledge and experience comes from long term working relationships with the shipyards. 'Custom build is immensely popular and is fast evolving in the region as more and more people understand the benefits of a tailor-made vessel to suit their every need.' Simpson Marine’s New Construction division has exceeded initial expectations with a series of orders for both power and sail designs that include sport fisher vessels, luxury ferry boats, 50ft catamarans, and a 108ft motor yacht. 'A custom or semi-custom yacht or super yacht is usually the result of an owner looking for a quintessential answer to their exacting requirements.' adds Julian Jesson, Simpson Marine’s Taiwan Broker. The arrival of the striking 76ft vessel in Thailand has further highlighted the custom-build option in the market, adding a new dimension to the flourishing boating lifestyle and charter industry in Asia. As the market continues to grow, Simpson Marine is able to offer customization of a current production model, or a design of a unique custom yacht with an appointed team to ensure the design meets the appropriate technical and legal requirements. 'The team has the experience to help turn ideas and requirements into a detailed brief which then becomes the cornerstone of the project to assist with a preliminary concept design that in turn will be tendered to suitable shipyards.' explains Jesson. Full time supervision is ensured throughout the build process of the vessel, irrelevant of the size, in order to guarantee superior standards and reduce the risk of delays. To add to the process, the team provides written and photographic reports throughout the project, to warrant a smooth and seamless hand-over to the customer.
