This weekend saw the conclusion of the 2008 NZ Offshore Powerboat Championships and for the third straight year the points table was dominated by a Bakewell-White design.

This is the first year that all of the boats in the open division have been racing on equal terms of horsepower and weight under the rules of the NZ V8 Superboat Rules.
Sleepyhead in the hands of Peter Turner and Craig Archer crushed the opposition with points from six wins, a second, and a third in the eight race series to totally dominate this years points table and had secured the championship without even having to start the final race on Auckland’s Waitemata harbour on Saturday.
The weather was tougher this year than in recent seasons and with some brand new competition the racing on the water was close, but Sleepyhead seemed able to consistently pull an early lead and then control the race pace whilst the contenders squabbled behind for the minor placings. www.bakewell-white.com
