Simrad GB40 – navigation, safety and entertainment

'Simrad GB40 Glass Bridge integrated navigation system'    Navico
The new Simrad GB40 Glass Bridge integrated navigation system has been specifically engineered for mid-sized power and sailing vessels.Following in the footsteps of the popular GB60 (designed for larger vessels), the highly-flexible GB40 delivers professional-grade power, functionality and robust reliability – providing skippers and crew with a total overview of their surroundings and complete control of the vessel.

At the heart of the GB40 is a compact NavComputer, which comes pre-loaded with global C-Map MAX Pro 3D cartography – combining GPS, land elevation, satellite photos and bathymetric sea floor data to produce a stunning virtual earth display that visually represents the environment around, above and below the vessel.

The system’s incredible functionality can be enhanced even further by adding one or more of the available upgrade modules.

Anglers will appreciate the GB40 echo sounder. The high-power (600W or 1kW) dual-frequency (200/50KHz) sounder provides excellent bottom and fish detection down to 1000m (1kW power, depending on conditions).

A full range of high-performance DSP (Digital Signal Processing) radar options is also available – from 2kW radome units to powerful 25kW open array systems.

Complementing the GB40 system is a series of stylish, super high-resolution Glass Bridge monitors. Available in 254mm, 381mm and 483mm sizes (for multi-station installation), the full-colour, TFT monitors are fully daylight viewable, while a night palette dims the display for safe night operation.

The GB40 is very easy to control using the OP30 control panel (key pad), which can be mounted on the dash or built into the helm chair armrest.

Easily interfaced via Ethernet and/or USB connection to an autopilot and other instruments, the plug-and-play capability of the GB40 even allows the vessel’s onboard entertainment system to be controlled at the touch of a button.

The sophisticated, yet easy to use, GB40 system will be launched in Australia at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May.
