Marine Queensland set to move to new location

Marine Queensland, the State’s peak marine industry organisation, is set for a busy February with its planned move into new premises scheduled for later in the month.

Barry Hibberd, MQ’s affable, bow tie-wearing General Manager, said the move came about due to a ‘carefully considered’ commercial decision to buy rather than continue to lease facilities.

The organisation will move from its Riverside Place, Morningside location to the Gateway Office Park, conveniently situated on the corner of Creek and Lytton Road, Murarrie.

“In light of current property price increases I believe we have made a beneficial decision to Marine Queensland’s advantage,” Hibberd said.

“This decision is part of our five-year strategic plan, which highlights financial stability as a key essential for the organisation and owning our own premises is a vital plank in that platform,” he explained.

Hibberd said Marine Queensland had expanded in line with industry growth and that the current premises had been “bursting at the seams.”

Marine Queensland, which in 1974 had one employee, now has eight on staff.

“The new premises are functional and offer a far more efficient working environment, with all office space on one level and ample parking for both staff and visitors,” he said.

“Plus, we moving to an ideal location close to the domestic and international airports, adjacent to the Gateway Arterial Motorway and the Brisbane River and only 20 minutes from the Brisbane central business district,” he added.
