Trapped in an anchorage?-Watch your Bar on Video

'Crossing the bar - would you do this?'    .
Additional aid to boaters on the east coast of Australia trapped in port by the heavy seas across the bars is a website called 'Coastal Watch', which shows live, hour by hour, the state of your local bar.

Click here to see, for instance, the state of the Seaway at the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The facility exists for most major and many minor ports along the coast.

This enables you to sit at home while getting an indication about whether you would brave the bar – or not.

Even if you're not intending to sail, the sea state on the shore is amazing to watch while the coast continues to be affected by the east coast low.

The main website is www.coastalwatch.com
