Quintrex, Australia’s best-known and best-loved ‘tinnie’ will mark 2008 with a history-making voyage from Brisbane to Melbourne.

Named the ‘Quintrex Offshore Relay’, the event will see a Quintrex 670 Offshore, powered by a Cummins MerCruiser diesel stern drive, visit every major port along the east coast, a genuine test of endurance and adventure.

Des Hughes, Quintrex sale and marketing manager for NSW, Victoria and Tasmania, said a large number of specific events would take place at each stop.

“In every port an on-water day will be staged in conjunction with that port’s local Quintrex dealership,” he explained.

“Throughout the journey, which is planned to conclude at the Melbourne Boat Show (July 3-7th 2008) the boat will be driven by a crew of three and passed on in relay style from Quintrex dealer to Quintrex dealer right down the coastline.

“We believe this event will showcase the toughness and seaworthiness of the Quintrex 670 Offshore, together with the performance and economy of the Cummins MerCruiser diesel stern drive,” he added.

Des believes the Gold Coast-based manufacturer has a first rate trailerable game boat range with its Offshore Series.

“With the Millennium variable deadrise hull and flared bow this is the boat for blue water anglers and we want to give those sportsmen a chance to put the boat through its paces and see it in action for themselves,” he added.

There will be more special events and promotions to be run in conjunction with the Quintrex Offshore Relay and we’ll keep you right up to date here on Powerboat-World.
