Wakeboard Action -

Now in its sixth year, APTW is the premier contest series for wakeboarding in the Southern Hemisphere. It has gained worldwide respect as a talent showcase and for promoting a good attitude towards this rapidly-growing sport.

Professional riders are battling with their skill and creativity, accumulating points across four legs of the adrenalin-charged 2008 tour, in the hope of being crowned APTW Champion.

The Pro Tour is growing every year. In 2006 the women’s division was added to to the tour and the 2007 series saw two major metropolitan locations added in Sydney and Brisbane. This year will see the program extended even further with Hamilton (NZ) hosting stop number three, and the inclusion of a junior division open to all wakeboarders aged 10-16.

APTW director Dimitris Limnatitis said the addition of a junior division to APTW would build the younger sector of the wakeboarding community and encourage the next generation to compete with a professional attitude.

'We wanted to give all young wakeboarders the opportunity to compete this year and make the tour more accessible to a wider group,' Mr Limnatitis said.

'This will be great for wakeboarding and will really push the level of talent we start to see in years to come.'

As always, every event on the national circuit will not only be an action-packed spectacle of wakeboarding skill, but a great family day by the water offering live music, competitions, rides and amusements.

With more than 180 pro boarders from six countries expected to compete for a total prize purse of $50,000, APTW 2008 will be huge!
