PSP Southampton Boat Show 2012 is being held from Friday 14th to Sunday 23rd September. From launches and workshops, to racing and special offers, the RYA is hosting a plethora of events and activities.

New for 2012 is the RYA 'Active Marina Experience' in partnership with Which Marina? Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to refresh their boating skills and gain top tips from expert instructors with free on the water and shore based workshops.

From man overboard drills and berthing manoeuvres to engine maintenance and radar operation, workshops will run each day and will provide some real hands-on experience.

Places are very limited so it is highly recommended you book your session either in advance for the shore-based workshops or on the day for on-the-water sessions.

To book an on-water workshop visit the ‘Try-a-Boat’ booking point on stand A140, when you arrive at the show (On-water workshops cannot be booked in advance).

Shorebased workshops can be booked in advance through Which Marina? by emailing Bookings(@)which-marina.com, calling 01784 223 816 or by visiting the Which Marina? stand F004 at the show. The first 50 shorebased workshop bookings will receive a free Navionics app for iPhones worth £21.99.

The RYA will be unveiling two new publications on Saturday 15 September; RYA Yacht Sailing Techniques (12.00) and RYA Day Skipper Handbook – Sail (14.30). Join us on the RYA stand (EO37) for a glass of bubbly and hear from the authors themselves as they talk us through these great new books.

There are also some fantastic prizes up for grabs in our free prize draws if you buy a copy of any of the new RYA titles (if you have already pre-ordered or purchased a copy of any of titles you will be automatically entered in to the draw.)

Purchase a copy of RYA Day Skipper Handbook – Sail and you could be in with a chance of winning a free five day (Sunday-Friday) RYA Day Skipper Practical Course, courtesy of Hamble School of Yachting (closing date 31 October 2012).

Buy a copy of the new RYA Yacht Sailing Techniques book and you could find yourself choosing from either a free RYA Competent Crew course, or a free RYA Day Skipper Practical course courtesy of Sunsail (closing date 30 September 2012).

And if that hasn’t whet your appetite then download the new RYA Tactics eBook in full from the free RYA Books channel app and register your details and you could be in with a chance of winning one of four Tacktick T060 Micro compasses (RRP £270) to give away (closing date 30 September 2012).

RYA members can also enjoy 20% off all publications at the show and a special boat show price of £35.00 for the Reeds Nautical Almanac 2013 (RRP £45.00).

Come along to the RYA Stand (EO37) throughout the show and we can offer you a massive 50% discount on RYA Family membership. So if you and your family enjoy being out on the water then why not find out more and see how RYA membership can benefit you.

If you’re an existing RYA member then why not tell us about your friends who might want to join and take advantage of RYA membership benefits and offers. If your friend does join then you will get £5.00 of your membership at renewal and your friend will automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win a HD Go-Pro Surf Hero camera from Action Cameras.

So come along to the stand and speak to our friendly membership team.

We’ll also be unveiling a whole host of winners at the show.

On Sunday 16 September the RYA Honda Youth RIB Championship final blasts off as youngsters from across the country go head to head against the clock in a bid to claim the championship title.

Watch all the action out in the marina and come and see the champions crowned at the winner’s ceremony on the Honda stand (time tbc).

We’ll also be unveiling the winner of the RYA ilovesailing Facebook photo and video competition on Saturday 22 September (12.00 RYA stand EO37). The eight monthly winners will show case their photos and videos before our panel of judges make the difficult decision of overall winner. Why not come along and cheer along your favourite and check out the photos and videos for yourself.

If you’re under 19 and fancy getting out on the water and testing your racing skills then the PSP Southampton Boat Show, RYA Interclub two boat Team Racing Championship, in association with Yachts and Yachting is the event for you.

Teams will be going head to head in the exciting Championship throughout the day on Saturday 22 September before an overall champion is revealed!

Each team is made up of four people and two boats (RS Feva’s) racing on a short course right at the heart of the Show, with Team Racing Gold and Silver Medallist, Greg Eaton commentating on all the action.

The first race will start at 11:00am with multiple heats going on throughout the day and prizes will be awarded to the days champions! Entry to the championship event is free and also includes entry into the Show for all 4 team members!

Want to know more and sign up then visit here.

Alongside all the events and activities taking place throughout the week, visit the RYA stand (EO37) and you’ll find all the information, videos and advice you need on finding a club, training centre or course; as well as details on how to get started to improving your skills.

Chat with our expert staff who will be happy to answer any of your questions or relax in the RYA members lounge (for RYA members and up to three non-member guests).

We’ll also be celebrating our Olympic and Paralympic Games success with our Olympic podium, why not come have your picture taken on the gold medal step?

And if you’re an RYA member you can enjoy all this and much more for just £12.00 with our RYA member PSP Southampton Boat Show ticket offer. Visit here to find out more.

We look forward to seeing you at the show.
