Melbourne’s streets come alive each year to the roar of the Formula One Grand Prix circuit, but today Sydney showed her Harbour will be a perfect setting for a leg of the World Powerboat Championship.

Australian Marine photographer Andrea Francolini captured some of the moments from today’s 2008 Superboat Grand Prix.
Andrea talks about today. 'Because most of the on water action in Australia is sailing wind is quite important when working. I have lost count many years ago of the number of days without wind and getting quite upset about it all.
But on Sunday it all changed.....
I got up to an early start and it was a glorious day. Not a cloud in sight and not wind at all. Not a problem.
The action came at the camera in 2000 horse power pieces and the 1200 spectator boats and tens of thousands of spectators lining the harbour foreshores enjoyed an amazing show on the water!
I think the images say it all and you can see them on www.afrancolini.com
