The Superstock Grand Prix is set to take place at Hull, Humberside from 1-2 June. A unique and imaginative buy-a-boat campaign in the East Yorkshire area has resulted in local businesses combining to fund the P1 Panther race boat for the whole of this summer's 10-race SuperStock season. The sleek, 28ft craft was unveiled in the city centre this evening ahead of the opening race event of the season on the River Humber this weekend.
One hull of a boat
The group of proactive business owners, which called itself 'onehullofaboat', came together in February and has worked closely with the P1 promoters to brand the 28ft powerboat and prepare it for the race series. The local crew of Jonathan Searby and Sam Whitaker received expert training in Southampton earlier this month and will be hoping that they can create a sporting impact as well as an economic one.
This is the third successive year that P1 SuperStock has raced in Hull and the onehullofaboat team sees the national series as a highly effective and affordable way of raising the profile of the city and region, with the ultimate goal of helping to create jobs and wealth.
