One of the leading lights in the marine industry in Australia, John Hogan, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Southport Yacht Club Marine Industry Lunch, which is a prelude to the opening of Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on the Gold Coast this month.

The lunch, which is an annual highlight in the lead-up to the internationally acclaimed exhibition, will be staged at the yacht club’s impressive waterfront facility at Main Beach on Tuesday, May 18. The Boat Show opens on May 20.

John Hogan, the CEO of Superior Jetties and a Director of the Marina Industries Association, holds impressive credentials as a guest speaker at major events throughout Asia and in America on matters relating to marine industry. He has chosen the title ‘Exploring the World Marine Market’ for his address.

John’s previous speaking engagements include the Shanghai International Boat Show, the Marine Innovation Conference on the Gold Coast, the International Marine and Boatyard Conference in Florida, the Asia Pacific Tourism Industry Conference in Korea, the Korean International Boat Show and the recent Marine Forum in China.

The lunch has become an entertaining a relaxing experience as well as a networking opportunity for boat show exhibitors, industry leaders and visitors, and this year will be no different. The usual level of high humour will be provided by comedian Steve Alison, and he’s promising a stand-out performance. Local yachtsman, journalist and author, Rob Mundle, will be the MC.

The Southport Yacht Club’s youth sailing program will be the beneficiary from live and silent auctions on the day. These auctions will feature impressive marine and sporting memorabilia.

As has always been the case, tickets are selling fast, so it’s suggested bookings are confirmed as soon as possible. The cost, which includes food and beverages, is $95pp, or alternatively $850 for a table of 10.

Bookings can be made by contacting Reception at Southport Yacht Club on (07) 5591 3500.

For more information please contact Bronwen Ince at the SYC on (07) 5591 3500.
