At the Southern 80 ski race, Hellrazor blazed a trail to a fourth consecutive crown in an incident-marred weekend. The crew of Mark Cranny, Damien Matthews, Peter Procter and Jason Walmsley won the 80km high-speed race along the Murray River in 30 minutes and 36 seconds, just outside their 2010 event record.

Thousands of fans packed the river banks between Torrumbarry and Echuca for yesterday's main superclass race, where 99 Psycho Clowns just held out Merc Force for second place.

Moama Water Sports Club president Steve Robson said it was a 'sensational weekend' with the one of the biggest crowds he had seen at the event on Saturday.

But the event was not without controversy, with 19 people found to have lit illegal campfires on Saturday despite a total fire ban.

Mr Robson said the event organisers could not control the 'idiotic' actions of campers along the river.

'It's just stupidity from people with so many fires going on around the state,' he said.

Loddon Mallee regional fire controller Rob Price said there was 'dangerous fire weather' and it was concerning that so many people ignored multiple warnings about the fire ban.

'The message was to be aware of the total fire bans and know what you can and can't do to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and safe weekend. Unfortunately, a number of people broke the rules,' Mr Price said.

'Total fire bans are declared on days where fires are likely to spread rapidly and be difficult to control - it doesn't take much for a fire to take hold and have potentially devastating consequences.'

The 19 offenders will receive fines of up to $5500 and could even face jail time.
