At this stage, we don’t know much more than we knew within hours of the tragedy only that names of the dead and injured have been released.
Those killed were Lizzie Holder, 20, Savanna Holloway, 25, an American girl who was scheduled to return to the US on May 5, Stacey Wright, 21, Ashiel Ayres, 32 and Alex Rumiz, 22.
Alex Nikakis, 29, died from severe head injuries some hours later in the North Shore Hospital.
Matthew Reynolds, believed to the skipper of the runabout that collided with the fishing trawler, remains in hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
He has not yet been interviewed by police.
Police Superintendent Mark Hutchings said the ‘complex and detailed’ investigation would be thorough.
