Marine Queensland is addressing the industry skills shortage with a new boat show feature dedicated to promoting careers in the marine industry.
Apprentice programs are key to the future of the industry.
Event Manager, Jason Plant and Marketing Manager, Helen Kenniff, are working on the inaugural Marine Careers Expo which will be a highlight feature at the show 27-31 August 2008.
Targeting students attending schools in the South East region, the expo has already gained strong support from Marine Queensland members plus the Queensland State Government and the Australian Defence Force.
The expo will incorporate static and dynamic displays complemented by interactive discussions with trades personnel, apprentices, business owners, government representatives and industry advisers. A series of seminars and presentations will also be held over the five day period highlighting the career opportunities offered by the marine industry.
