Lewmar has introduced a Flush Portlight in response to designers desire to minimize the visual impact of portlights on boats. There has been an increasing trend toward sleek deck styling, which Lewmar was early to respond to with its original Flush Hatch design in 2006.
The Flush Portlight is a development of Lewmar’s Standard Portlight with a reduced number of textures, angles and levels. To achieve a flush look, acrylic has been moved as far forward as possible and increased in thickness to 12 mm to make it almost flush with the mounting surface. The outer frame has been made as flat as possible and the angled face of the Standard Portlight removed.
The outer frame is powder coat black in colour to camouflage to the acrylic lens; this is more costly than the anodising that is normally used.
'The Flush Portlight offers the type of sleek aesthetics designers and owners prefer,' explains Lewmar’s Bob Stevens, hatch and portlight product manager. 'Portlight styling had changed very little since Lewmar introduced its Standard Portlight in 1980. The new Flush Portlight will be part of the developing trend.'
The new Flush Portlight range is available in Lewmars standard sizes.
