As Gold Coast residents and tourists would be well aware, the Nikon Indy 300, which regularly attracts upwards of 300,000 spectators, is set to rumble over the weekend of October 25-26.
The following weekend, the Gold Coast is again host to big horsepower when all manner of racing powerboats, offshore, Formula I and II and Unlimited Displacement included, meet in a gala three-day racing program.
Australian Power Boast Association president, Tony Walsh, said the sport had received 'tremendous support' from the Indy Car organisers.
'They’ve been fantastic,' he said.
'We’ve been invited to display boats inside the track on McIntosh Island, with both Offshore and Formula I boats on display, one on the hard and two on the water.
'It represents great promotion for the powerboat racing and we’re grateful to the Indy Car people for their cooperation,' he added.
The ‘bumper’ weekend of powerboat racing begins on the Friday when the Offshore Superboats, comprising the thundering Class I boats, capable of more than 200km/hr, together with the Supercat Outboard and Supercat Outboard Lite classes line up for round two of the Australian titles.
Spectators will be able to see the impressive boats when scrutineering is carried out at the car park just north of Sea World.
The boats will be launched from there and will make their way out through the Seaway to the race circuit just off Surfers Paradise Beach, affording excellent viewing of the spectacular racing.

Formula I and Formula II boats will race over a tight Broadwater circuit within the area known as the Marine Stadium, adjacent to the launch area.
'It’s going to be a weekend to remember for powerboat fans,' Tony Walsh declared.
'We’ll be showing off Australian powerboat competition to the world, as more than 120 delegates representing 62 nations will be here from the sport’s governing body, the Union Internationale Motonautique.
'Many will be arriving from a cold European winter and we think the Gold Coast is going to blow them away,' he added.
