Those who frequent the Auckland waterfront, will have noticed the steady growth of the Auckland 18ft skiff fleet over the past couple of years.

We counted seven on the water today for a training session ahead of the JJ Giltinan Trophy in Sydney, next month. Plus there were another three on the trailers, and one or two more besides - that's a fleet of around 10-12 boats.

The Auckland Championships are next weekend.

We caught these images from Sunday's practice sessions.
