The newest addition to the Evinrude outboard engine range, the E-Tec 300hp, was unveiled by BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) at the Miami International Boat Show.
Roch Lambert, vice president and general manager, Outboard Marine Engines, said the new engine offered offshore anglers and high performance enthusiasts a new choice in low maintenance, low emission outboard power.
“The 300hp model carries the identical three year/300-hour benefit of no dealer scheduled maintenance, consistent with all Evinrude E-Tec engines,” he explained.
“No other brand of engine allows consumers to spend more time on the water. We’re confident that this unique benefit now delivered with the 300hp engine will enable the Evinrude marque to continue its strong market growth.”
The 300hp engine boasts 3.4-litres of displacement and is claimed to offer more torque, low-end power and top speed than similar competitive two and four-stroke outboard engines.
This additional power, the company believes, allows boaters to plane heavy loads, tow skiers, wake boarders and tubers better than ever, while the additional torque is particularly beneficial when boating in hot climates.
The 300hp Evinrude E-Tec is a big block, two-stroke, direct injection power plant in a compact, lightweight design providing superior performance than many competitive engines with the same horsepower.
A high power-to-weight ratio offers several advantages, including greater fuel efficiency, less draft for improved boat handling, faster planing and less stress on the structural integrity of a boat’s transom.

BRP claims one of the major advantages of Evinrude E-Tec technology is increased fuel economy leading to extended boating range.
Performance testing by BRP has shown that the new 300hp engine can deliver as much as 35-40 percent improvement in fuel economy and 50 percent improvement in oil consumption when compared with electronic fuel injection (EFI) models.
The 300hp Evinrude E-Tec has an all-new high-performance gear case, hailed as the ‘most durable V-6 gear case BRP has ever produced.’
Its hydrodynamic design increases speed and engine efficiency while providing superior control.
A computer-designed leading edge reduces the chances of weed wrapping around the housing and compromising cooling and performance.
Secondary water inlets, located at the nose of the gear case housing, provide improved cooling over a wider range of conditions.
An innovative forward gear and bearing design increases strength and durability while movement and wear are greatly reduced with a new prop shaft bearing carrier.
The new Evinrude E-Tec 300hp engines are available in the white livery and in 25” and 30” shaft lengths as well as counter rotating models.
